It's been a weird few weeks - the weather has been horrible for three out of the four the weekends in October and I've felt trapped in the house. During storm Babet we were told to work from home for two days and it brought back memories of lockdown that weren't good for my mental health.
1. Safely Weathering The Storm
Speaking of Storm Babet I am grateful we have a safe, warm house to cosy down in while the worst of the weather passed and we weren't in part of the country that was badly affected. My heart goes out to everyone whose homes were flooded and the ongoing damage to local roads and bridges.
2. Charity Bake Sale
At work this week we hosted a bake sale for breast cancer so I decided to bake not just one recipe but two delicious bakes. I shared the recipe for S'mores Cookies on Friday but I also made a pumpkin spice cake with the most delicious cream cheese chocolate frosting.
3. Cosy Living Room Additions
I've spent so much time in our living room over the past month that I really started to hate all the hard surfaces in there. It wasn't feeling as cosy as it could have on the dark nights so I've been determined to find a rug that properly fits the space. It arrived on Friday and I'm so happy with the addition to the room.
4. 1989 (Taylor's Version)
1989 is my Taylor album - it came out when I was at uni and I listened to it over and over again. I lost my way a little during the Speak Now and Red eras but 1989 firmly made me a swiftie again and I've not looked back. Of course I went straight for the vault tracks and after my first listening I'd struggle to rate them.
5. A Little Date Day
The theme of this post has been spending lots of time indoors with the bad weather but it's not great for my mental health doing nothing in between work on Friday afternoon and Monday morning. So, I planned a little date day to Broughty Ferry on Saturday. I booked lunch at our favourite Tapas, Sol y Sombra, then we had a little mooch around the shops. It was only a few hours but it made me feel so much better.
