Cactus Collection Embroidery Magic Paper Kit - LoveCrafts |
I embroidered this top myself - how cool is that? I saw it in the 50% off F&F sale they were having in Tesco and thought it was nice for summer. Then I remembered I still had the DMC kit that LoveCrafts sent over last year. At just £4 I thought this top would be the perfect place to practise. As pretty as I think embroidery hoops are I just think I'd get fed up of too many lying around but embroidering my own clothes really appealed to me.
Of course I choose a kit with cacti and houseplants on it. I am totally obsessed at the moment as these new earrings will signify. I'd never come across magic paper before but the kit has 6 mini designs on it and all you do is cut out the design you want, peel off the back and stick it where you want on the item of clothing. The kit has three colours of thread and a needle but I also used a 4 inch hoop to make the job easier.
I am by no means an expert at embroidery and this isn't perfect but it was fun to do. It took a couple of hours over two nights to finish the design and then I ran it under the tap to remove the magic paper. Now all I need to do is decide what to do with the other designs.
As I said in my last post with LoveCrafts doing some embroidery is a great way to switch off in the evenings and not look at your phone. Especially important at the moment and I'm sure crafting has had a surge in popularity.
As of today in Scotland we are allowed to spent time with one other household, outside and keeping social distancing so tomorrow we are going to see my mum and dad. It feels safer in the area we live in and I'm so excited to spend time with them again. It's been along time coming and just to sit in their garden again will be glorious.
Have a good weekend and if you have time do check out Tuesdays new post.
